Essex updates its emergency school-closure list daily at 6pm with reported closures for the following day. If a school is not listed but you believe it may be closed, contact the school directly.

School transport basics

Essex's standard distance rules include free transport to the nearest qualifying school where younger primary pupils live more than 2 miles away, older primary pupils more than 3 miles away, and secondary pupils more than 3 miles away. Different rules can apply for low-income families, SEND and faith schools, so always use the official eligibility checker.
